Subject: SOS-Support Needed For New Trail

Dear Garry,
I wanted to let you know that we have a rare opportunity to get 10.5 miles of new trail on Sequoia National Forest Lands. New trails are almost unheard of in California.
Stewards of the Sequoia have been lobbying for this project for 10 years and it is almost about to happen.
Right now letters of support are needed to ensure the Forest Service can move forward with this great bypass trail project.

We need to show that our community is in favor of this important project. Your letter of support will help increase the volume of support letters. It is possible the extremists may ramp up their anti everything machine and try to shoot down this much needed project. We want to ensure there are more letters supporting the project.
Comments are due no later than April 20, so your comment is needed very soon.

Dear Recreation Manager Tricia Maki,
I would like to offer my full support for the Forest Service Cannel Bypass project as outlined in District Ranger Watson's letter of April 2, 2018 File Code 1950/2350.
This is a great project that will reconnect the upper motorized trail system ,while improving the mountain bike opportunity. It also appreciated that the project will reduce user conflict at the two horse camps along the old trail by building this bypass trail.
I applaud the Forest Service for improving recreation opportunity and for addressing the environmental issue by moving the Cannel trail out of the meadows.
The Cannel bypass trail project is needed to reroute the existing Cannel Trail out of the meadows to address environmental concerns. The new trail will be better for mountain bikes than the existing trail. The reroute will also move the Cannel Trail away from two existing horse camps to reduce user conflict. This project will benefit dirt bikes, mountain bikes as well as hiking and horseback.
The Forest Service has been using an Off Highway Vehicle Grant to pay for the extensive planning they have done for the project over the last 3 years. Stewards of the Sequoia members have committed to work with the Forest Service to perform thousands of hours of ground work for the reroute.
We hope you can help makes this great project a reality. Please submit your letter now.
You can see the Forest Service Cannel reroute proposal and map here.
